Chesterfield Commonwealth Attorney Stonewalls FOIA Request By Revolution PAC Chairman Larry Hunter In Brandon Raub Case

September 15, 2012 | Lawrence Hunter | Revolution PAC
Chesterfield County Commonwealth Attorney William W. Davenport has denied the Freedom of Information Act request submitted by Revolution PAC chairman Larry Hunter in the Brandon Raub case on the specious grounds that Hunter "does not have standing for this request."  In his response to Davenport, Hunter said, in part:

"The vague and elliptical formulation of your response, 'you do not have standing for this request,' provides no indication of why you believe I do not have standing...Would you please specify why you believe I do not have standing to receive the information requested and under what section of the Code of Virginia you base your opinion?

"In order to expedite this matter, let me eliminate from consideration the only assumption I can imagine on which you might be basing your opinion that I 'do not have standing for this request,' which is that you believe I am not a citizen of Virginia. I am, and a quick check of Virginia drivers’ license and voter registration records will reveal that I am a long-standing citizen of Virginia."

The exchange of communications between Dr. Hunter and Mr. Davenport's office occurred via email.  Copies of both Davenport's denial and Hunter's response follow:
